About Us

Exterior view of Muskegon Elks Lodge #274 surrounded by greenery.

Lodge #274 has been part of the Muskegon fabric for generations, and the building at 513 W Pontaluna Rd shows it. Members describe it as old and well maintained, which is exactly the right way to put it. There is something earned about a lodge that has hosted thousands of dinners, fundraisers, and family nights without losing its character.

The lodge sits on grounds that include a campground separate from the main building, a rare amenity that sets this Elks chapter apart from most. Whether a member pulls in for a weekend under the trees or a guest stops by for a Friday dinner, the experience is rooted in the same idea: people taking care of people. That ethic runs from the kitchen to the community grants the Elks fund every year.

With a 4.2-star rating across 46 reviews, Lodge #274 earns its reputation through consistency and involvement. New members find activities for the whole family. Long-time members find purpose in giving back. The Elks motto, "Elks Care, Elks Share," is not a slogan here. It is a Tuesday night.

What We Offer

Membership at Lodge #274 opens the door to weekly dinners, social events, and a calendar packed with activities for adults and kids alike. The dining room hosts regular sit-down meals and special themed nights, and the kitchen, when it is firing on all cylinders, turns out solid home-style plates worth showing up for.

Beyond the table, the lodge offers access to the onsite campground, a genuinely uncommon perk that members and their guests can use at reasonable rates. The lodge also runs community service programs tied to the national Elks National Foundation, directing funds toward veterans, youth, and local causes throughout the Norton Shores area.

For families looking for more than a social club, the Elks provide structured youth programs, volunteer opportunities, and a hall available for private events. Membership dues are modest relative to everything included, and the bonds formed inside these walls tend to last well past the last round of the evening.

"I was there for a dinner meeting and the food was mostly cold. Good, but cold. With a speaker talking I didn’t want to interrupt to have the food reheated. This is an old lodge and well maintained. Fun golf course too."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
